Forgas Can good or bad mood induced by the weather influence people’s ability to correctly remember everyday scenes? In this unobtrusive field study, we predicted and found that weather-induced negative mood improved memory accuracy. Randomly selected shoppers on bright, sunny days (good mood) or on cloudy, rainy days (bad mood) saw 10 unusual objects in the check-out area of a suburban shop, and their recall and recognition memory for these objects was later tested. Shoppers in a negative mood showed better memory and higher discrimination ability. The cognitive mechanisms responsible for everyday mood effects on memory performance are discussed, and the implications of these findings for current affect/cognition theories and applied areas are considered. 2008 Elsevier Inc. Effects of doxepin on spatial memory, TNF-α and Bcl-2 family genes expression in rat hippocampus
Introduction: Although the initial hypothesis for the action of doxepin was based on the inhibition of the reuptake of neurotransmitters, it has been suggested that it may also involve other mechanisms. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the effect of doxepin on spatial memory, tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-&alpha) level, expression of pro-apoptotic (Bad and Bax) and anti-apoptotic (B...
متن کاملHow robust is the language architecture? The case of mood
In neurocognitive research on language, the processing principles of the system at hand are usually assumed to be relatively invariant. However, research on attention, memory, decision-making, and social judgment has shown that mood can substantially modulate how the brain processes information. For example, in a bad mood, people typically have a narrower focus of attention and rely less on heu...

متن کاملDwarf Frankenstein is still in your memory: tiny code reuse attacks
Code reuse attacks such as return oriented programming and jump oriented programming are the most popular exploitation methods among attackers. A large number of practical and non-practical defenses are proposed that differ in their overhead, the source code requirement, detection rate and implementation dependencies. However, a usual aspect among these methods is consideration of the common be...
